A neighbourhood the railways drew
The Junction is named for an actual junction — the spot where two rail corridors cross just north of Dundas West, the old West Toronto Diamond. Those tracks still dictate how the neighbourhood drives. The Junction Triangle is literally fenced in by three rail lines, so half its streets dead-end at a berm and the rest funnel through a handful of crossings. Old Weston Rd squeezes under the tracks through an underpass that has been humbling drivers for a century, Dupont threads its own, and everything north of Annette eventually negotiates with a bridge or a chain-link fence. It is part of the neighbourhood’s charm, and it is also why so many Junction trips involve a tight turn a driver only half expected.
Getting to us, though, uses the one road the rails never complicated. Keele St leaves the neighbourhood at Dundas West and runs 10 km straight north — past St. Clair and the Stockyards, over Eglinton, past Lawrence — to our shop off Keele just south of Sheppard. Most days that is 14 to 22 minutes door to door. And because the Keele bus travels the same line down to Keele station on Line 2, handing the car over does not strand you: drop the keys, board one bus, and you are back at the edge of the neighbourhood without asking anyone for a ride.
Where Junction cars pick up their damage
Start on Dundas St W. The strip between Runnymede and the Diamond is one of the city’s better main streets, which means curbside parking, delivery vans stopped in the live lane, and a steady shuffle of cars easing in and out of spots sized for 1920s fenders. Parked doors, clipped mirrors, and creased quarters are the price of that liveliness. A few blocks north, the Stockyards District trades street parking for enormous retail lots — and trades sideswipes for shopping-cart strikes, curb-stop scrapes, and reversing taps between the rows off St. Clair and Weston Rd.
Then there is the hardware unique to this corner of the city. The 512 St. Clair streetcar runs a raised right-of-way that ends at Gunns Loop by Keele, and its concrete curbing catches wheels, lips, and lower bumpers from drivers turning across it a half-metre early. Keele, St. Clair, and Junction Rd carry real truck volume into the remaining industrial pockets, and truck routes break pavement faster than the city fixes it — February through April, the potholes there are genuinely capable of bending things. Add winter windrows narrowing the Victorian side streets off Annette and High Park Ave, and the neighbourhood generates steady bodywork without anyone driving badly.
How a Junction repair actually runs
Everything starts with photos, not a drive. Text pictures of the damage to (647) 594-3401 — a wide shot, the damaged area, a close-up — and the owner sends back a written number fast, before the car has moved off its spot on Quebec Ave or out of the Stockyards lot. If a claim makes sense, we open it with your insurance company, meet the adjuster, and file supplements when teardown finds what the photos could not show. You are never the messenger between a shop and an adjuster; that is our side of the counter.
The shop runs 8 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday, with Sundays by appointment, so a drop-off fits before work or after dinner rather than in the middle of your day. Where your coverage includes a rental, we time it to your drop-off so you hand over one set of keys and pick up another. And when the car cannot make the trip — dead on the shoulder under the Old Weston Rd underpass, or sitting crooked after a hit at Keele and St. Clair — we arrange the tow from where it stopped, with the destination decided by you, not the tow operator.
