A town of pickups, trailers, and windy parking lots
The dents Caledon sends us are working dents. Half the town tows something — landscape trailers, sleds, horses — and hitch couplers, ramps, and swinging gates are exactly the height of tailgates and rear quarters. Firewood, fence posts, and hockey bags go over bedsides and dent them from the inside out. On the acreages it is the garage that never quite fits the truck, the barn door in a gust, the ATV loaded at a bad angle. None of this is crash damage, and all of it deserves better than a rubber mallet in the driveway.
Bolton supplies the ordinary kind. The plaza lots along Highway 50 and Queensgate pack SUVs into stalls drawn for smaller decades, and door edges and runaway carts do what they do everywhere — except that Caledon wind gets a longer run-up across open lots, so the carts arrive with more conviction. Add windrow-frozen snowbanks at the end of every laneway in January, and the annual crop of creased doors, dinged fenders, and dented tailgates is steady enough that we can usually price it from three photos.
What repairing a dent properly involves
A dent is metal that moved, and the honest repair moves it back rather than burying it. Where there is access behind the panel, we work the metal out from the inside and finish the surface until it reads flat under a straightedge and raking light. Where the crease stretched the steel or cracked the paint, the repair adds a skim of filler over straightened metal — a skim, not a sculpture — followed by primer and refinishing matched and blended to the panels around it. Which path your dent takes depends on the metal, the location, and whether the paint survived, and we tell you which one applies before the work starts.
What we will not do is quietly replace a repairable panel or spray a whole door for a ding the size of a loonie. Small repairs stay small here: the estimate says what the fix is, what it costs, and how long the car stays. If rust has already started in a chipped dent — common by spring on a car that lives on salted sideroads — we deal with the corrosion before anything gets filled, because paint over rust is a repair with an expiry date.
- Metal worked back to shape wherever access allows
- Filler used as a finishing skim over straightened steel, never as the repair
- Refinish matched to your colour and blended past the panel edge
- Corrosion in chipped dents treated before refinishing, not painted over
Small job, long drive — here is how we square that
We are straightforward about geography: nobody should drive down from Caledon East to have a dent looked at. Photos do the looking. Text them to (647) 594-3401 and the written quote tells you whether the job justifies the trip — and sometimes we will tell you it does not, or that it can wait and ride along with other work later. When you do come down, the job is scheduled so parts, paint, and booth time are ready the day the car lands, not discovered afterwards.
On the money side, many dents sit below or near a deductible, and paying out of pocket is often the sensible call — we price it plainly so you can decide. When a dent is part of a real claim (a hit in a Bolton lot where the other driver left a note, say), the owner opens the file with your insurance company and runs it start to finish. Drop-offs Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, Sundays by appointment.
