Auto Painting in Whitby

Collision Auto Center paints and refinishes Whitby vehicles at our North York shop, about 36 to 50 minutes west on the 401. Colour is mixed to your paint code, test-sprayed against the actual panel, and blended into the surrounding metal — and the finished refinish is warranted for as long as you own the vehicle.

Durham is hard on paint in three specific ways

The first is salt. A Whitby car that commutes the 401 spends four months a year driving through brine mist, and every stone chip on the hood, the mirror caps, and the leading edge of the roof becomes a place for rust to start. By March the white film has been washed off; the chemistry underneath keeps working. The second is stone itself — Winchester Road and the Taunton corridor carry a constant stream of construction traffic for the subdivisions still going in, and the gravel shoulders on the Ashburn and Myrtle roads north of Brooklin sandblast rocker panels one pebble at a time.

The third is sun. The newer streets of West Whitby and the blocks north of Rossland Road were farmland recently enough that the trees are still saplings, so second cars sit on driveways in full southern exposure all summer. Dark metallics and reds fade fastest, clear coat goes chalky on horizontal panels, and a five-year-old finish can be measurably lighter than the paint code says it should be. None of this is a crisis on its own — but it is exactly why refinishing a panel to the code alone, without matching the paint as it exists today, produces repairs you can spot from across a parking lot.

Matching the colour your car actually is now

Every refinish here starts with the paint code and refuses to end there. The mixed colour is sprayed onto a test card and held against the panel in corrected light, then adjusted until it matches the weathered reality of your car rather than the factory’s original recipe. The repair area is primed, sealed, and sprayed in a controlled booth, and the colour is blended out into the adjacent panels — a hard edge between fresh paint and five Durham summers of UV is what makes a repair visible, and the blend is what makes it disappear at the Four Corners in full afternoon light.

Metallics and pearls get the extra pass they need: flake orientation checked from multiple angles, because a silver that matches head-on can flop grey from the side if it was sprayed wrong. Clear coat covers the full blended area, cures properly, and gets polished before the car is released. All of it — colour, blend, clear — is covered by our lifetime warranty on paint and refinish. If anything about the finish ever bothers you, a photo to (647) 594-3401 starts the conversation; nobody drives 50 km to ask a question a picture can answer.

How Whitby paint work gets scheduled from here

Refinish jobs are the easiest kind to run at a distance, because the estimate photographs well. Send pictures of the scratch, the faded panel, or the keyed door and a written number comes back quickly — and honestly. If the damage is small, out of pocket, and a Durham shop can do it well for less total hassle, the owner will tell you that on the phone. The Whitby paint work that comes to us usually rides along with something bigger: a collision claim already in our bays, a rust repair worth doing properly, or a finish problem another repair left behind.

When the job books, we schedule it so the car sits still only when work is happening — parts and materials are on the shelf before the drop-off, not ordered after it. Most Whitby customers pair the drop with a workday drive they already make, or hand us the keys once and collect a finished, inspected car in a single return trip. Hours are Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, and Sundays by appointment when the weekend is your only realistic window for the 401.

  • Written refinish estimate from photos — no trip needed to get a number
  • Colour matched to the panel as it is today, not just the factory code
  • Blended into neighbouring panels so no edge shows in direct sun
  • Lifetime warranty on all paint and refinish work

Good to know

Common questions

Straight answers before you commit to anything — and a human on the phone when you want one.

Can you match a factory finish that has faded after years on a Whitby driveway?

Yes — that situation is the reason spray-out cards exist. The colour is mixed from your code, tested against the actual panel, adjusted for the fade, and blended into the surrounding metal. The blend is what hides the boundary between new paint and weathered paint; matching the code alone is what makes repairs show.

Do you have to paint the whole side of the car for one damaged panel?

No. The damaged panel is repaired and refinished, and colour is blended partway into the panels beside it — a much smaller area than repainting the side, and the standard method for making the transition invisible. You pay for the blend, not for panels that were never damaged.

What does the lifetime paint warranty require from me?

Nothing unusual — it covers our paint and refinish work for as long as you own the vehicle, against defects like peeling, bubbling, or colour failure. Normal washing is fine. If something ever looks wrong, send a photo first; if it needs correction, we book the car in and make it right.

Honestly, I thought my car would never look the same again — but they completely proved me wrong. I couldn’t even tell where the damage had been repaired or repainted. The paint matched perfectly, and the bodywork was flawless.
