Auto Painting in Ajax

Yes — we paint Ajax vehicles, from a single resprayed bumper to full panels after a collision. The trip from the Harwood corridor runs about 32–45 minutes on the 401, so we start with photos, book the booth before you drive in, and guarantee the colour match and refinish for as long as you own the car.

What Ajax does to paint

Paint in Ajax fights on three fronts. The first is the 401 itself: forty minutes of following distance twice a day means a steady sandblast of grit and stone chips across the hood and bumper, and every chip is an opening. The second is salt — Durham Region keeps Taunton, Westney, and Bayly white from December to March, and the spray works into each opening the highway made, lifting paint from underneath until a chip becomes a bubble and the bubble becomes rust. The third front is the driveway. Very few Ajax cars sleep indoors, so summer UV bakes horizontal panels and winter freeze–thaw pries at every edge the first two fronts weakened.

The result is a specific mix of work: hood and bumper respray on high-kilometre commuters, rocker and arch repair where windrow scrapes went unclaimed too long, and clear-coat failure on ten-year-old vehicles that spent a decade outside near the lake. None of it needs a whole-car repaint. It needs the failing panels repaired properly and refinished so they match the rest of a car that has aged in Ajax weather — which is a matching problem as much as a painting problem.

Matching colour on a car that has lived outdoors

Your paint code tells us what the colour was the day the car left the factory. It does not tell us what six Ajax winters did to it — which is why we spray out the mix, check it against your actual panel under corrected light, and adjust before the car is painted. Then the colour is blended into the neighbouring panels rather than stopped at a hard panel edge, because a boundary line is what makes a respray visible in sunlight, and the sun over the Waterfront Trail is unforgiving.

Preparation is the part nobody sees and everybody benefits from. Failing clear coat is stripped rather than sprayed over; rust that started at a chip is cut back to clean metal, treated, and primed; trim is removed instead of masked where removal gives a cleaner edge. The refinish leaves under a lifetime warranty, which only makes commercial sense because the preparation is done as if we will be seeing the panel again — the goal is that we never do.

  • Sprayed-out colour checked against your panel, not just the factory code
  • Blend into adjacent panels so no edge shows in direct sun
  • Rust cut back to clean metal and treated before primer
  • Lifetime warranty on every refinish that leaves the booth

One trip down the 401, planned in advance

Paint work schedules well from a distance, because the scope rarely changes after photos the way collision damage can. Send pictures of the panel in daylight to (647) 594-3401 and the written estimate that comes back is normally the final number. We order materials and book the booth before you leave Ajax, so the car goes into process the day it arrives instead of holding a spot in the lot.

If the paint work is part of an insurance repair — vandalism scratches, a keyed door on the GO lot, collision refinish — the claim runs from our office and the supplement conversations stay between us and the adjuster. If you are paying out of pocket, we will say plainly whether a repair is worth the money or whether touch-up and patience is the honest answer. Hours are 8 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday, Sundays by appointment.

Common questions

Straight answers before you commit to anything — and a human on the phone when you want one.

Can you match a metallic or pearl finish on a car that has faded?

Yes. Metallics and pearls are the reason we spray out the colour and compare it against your panel before painting — the code alone will not match a finish that has weathered outdoors in Ajax. The adjusted mix is then blended into the panels beside the repair, so there is no visible boundary under sun.

My clear coat is peeling on the hood and roof. Is that repairable?

It is, and the only durable fix is refinishing the affected panels — the failed clear is stripped, the base is corrected, and new clear goes on over the full panel. Spraying over peeling clear coat fails again quickly, which is why we do not offer it. Photos of both panels get you a written number without a trip.

How long would my car be with you for paint work?

A single panel or bumper is usually a two-to-three-day stay, counting cure time; multiple panels run longer and we give the real window with your estimate. Because Ajax is a 401 trip away, we book the booth before you drive down, so none of that time is your car waiting in a queue.

What customers say

The line we hear most: “I couldn’t tell where the damage had been.”

★★★★★

Honestly, I thought my car would never look the same again — but they completely proved me wrong. I couldn’t even tell where the damage had been repaired or repainted. The paint matched perfectly, and the bodywork was flawless.
