A city that parks by the centimetre

The core’s dents are made at parking speed. Condo stalls between Front and Queens Quay were drawn for a market of compact sedans and now hold SUVs, so neighbouring doors meet with nowhere to go, and the same door takes the same hit month after month. Street parking adds a rougher class of contact: vans working Kensington’s narrow one-ways fold mirrors and crease fenders on the way past, and a car left on a permit block for a week can come back with a mystery dent and no note under the wiper.

Winter multiplies all of it. Snowbrush handles dimple hoods, chunks of ice fall off transport trailers on the Gardiner, and frozen slush banks at the mouth of every laneway are harder than they look when a bumper lip noses into one. Any single dent is a small job. The one that has cracked its paint is not small for long — salt finds the crack immediately, and by April a cosmetic repair has grown a corrosion problem underneath it.

Shaping metal properly, not hiding it under filler

A dent done right is worked from behind wherever access exists: the metal pushed and persuaded back toward its stamped shape, high spots brought down, and only the thinnest skim of finishing material before primer. Location changes the difficulty more than size does. A shallow dish in the middle of a door is straightforward; a crease across a body line means the stiffest part of the panel has stretched, and rebuilding that line straight is careful, patient work. When a skin is genuinely past saving we say so and price the replacement against the repair, both in writing.

The second half of the job is making the repair disappear. The panel gets refinished to match the car as it stands today — not the code sticker — and blended into the panels beside it, then covered by the same lifetime paint warranty our collision work carries. The standard is simple: you should not be able to point to where the dent was, in any light, at any angle.

Deductible math for people who drive twice a week

Most single dents live in the awkward zone near a typical deductible, and a claim that saves you nothing is not a service to you. So the first thing you get is a number: text photos, receive a written price, and compare it against your deductible before anyone talks about insurance. When the damage clearly clears the bar — a deep crease, several panels, broken paint — we run the claim like any collision file, adjuster and paperwork included.

For a downtown car that mostly sits, timing is the easy part. Parts and paint are staged before your visit, most dent repairs run a few days, and the car simply spends those days in our building instead of your garage. Drop off between 8 AM and 7 PM Monday to Saturday, ride Line 1 home from Sheppard West, and collect it the same way. Questions land with the owner directly, at (647) 594-3401.

  • Written price from photos before any claim conversation
  • Metal worked from behind the panel wherever access allows
  • Refinish blended into neighbouring panels, lifetime paint warranty
  • Repair versus replacement priced side by side when a skin is marginal

Good to know

Common questions

Straight answers before you commit to anything — and a human on the phone when you want one.

Someone dinged my door in the condo garage and drove off. Should I bother claiming?

Run the numbers first. A single ding priced below or near your deductible is not worth a claim, and with no identified driver the repair would route through your own policy anyway. Send photos, get our written price, then decide — and ask your building for camera footage the same day in case the damage turns out worse than it looks.

A delivery van creased my fender along the body line. Can that be fixed without a new fender?

Often yes. A body-line crease means stretched metal in the panel’s stiffest section, so it takes more careful shaping than a round dent, but if the steel has not stretched too far we rebuild the line and refinish. If replacement genuinely is the better repair, we price both options and show you why.

Do I need to be without the car all week for one dent?

Usually not. Most single-dent repairs run a few days because the work is scheduled to start the day you drop off — paint mixed, materials ready, booth booked. You get the expected span in writing with the estimate, and for a car that spends most days parked, the interruption is smaller than it sounds.

What customers say

The line we hear most: “I couldn’t tell where the damage had been.”

★★★★★

Honestly, I thought my car would never look the same again — but they completely proved me wrong. I couldn’t even tell where the damage had been repaired or repainted. The paint matched perfectly, and the bodywork was flawless.
