Dense parking makes dents — and Rexdale parks dense
Most of the dents we see from Rexdale were made at walking speed. Shared lots at the towers along Silverstone and Mount Olive pack cars close enough that one careless door swing creases the next car’s skin; the painted rows outside Albion Mall and the plazas along Albion Rd add the reversing taps and cart strikes; and the vast open parking at Woodbine collects its own crop on busy race and casino nights, when hundreds of visiting drivers thread unfamiliar rows in the dark. The common thread is that nobody stays to explain, and the owner discovers the damage the next morning.
Winter contributes a different shape of dent. The plow windrow that seals a Thistletown or Smithfield driveway freezes into something closer to concrete than snow, and a bumper or rocker that argues with it loses — a folded valance, a pushed-in corner, a crease low on the door. Spring adds the pothole season on Albion Rd and Martin Grove, which is less about panels and more about rims and suspension, but it arrives in the same wave of calls: something hit something, and now the car does not look or drive quite right.
Fixing the metal properly, not hiding it
Every dent gets the same three-way decision: work the metal back, repair and refinish, or replace the panel. Which one wins depends on how deep the crease runs, whether the paint cracked, and what sits behind the panel — a door with its intrusion beam and wiring is a different job from a fender hung on bolts. Shallow damage with intact paint is the cheapest fix it will ever be; a crease that broke the colour coat needs proper metal work, a skim of filler where the stretch cannot be fully relaxed, and a refinish blended into the panels around it so the repair disappears.
What we will not do is bury a bad dent under thick filler and hope. That version fails in a Rexdale winter — filler shrinks, the paint edge maps through, and the corner that looked fine in July looks patched by February. If a panel is stretched or rusted past the point where repair beats replacement, we say so with numbers for both paths. Deductible math before you decide anything
A parking-lot dent puts you at a fork: pay out of pocket, or put it through insurance. When the other driver is unknown — the usual tower-lot outcome — the claim generally runs through your own collision coverage with your deductible, and if the repair quote is close to that deductible, claiming buys you nothing. This is why we quote from photos first. Three pictures by text, a written number back, and you make the call with both figures in front of you instead of guessing in the lot.
When the dent is part of something bigger — a hit-and-run with a witness, damage that turns out to involve the door frame — we run the claim the way we run every claim: opened with your insurance company, supplements filed with photo evidence, updates from the person doing the work.
